Charles Morrison to speak on Multicultural Marketing and Advertising

Charles Morrison, executive vice president and general manager for UniWorld Group Inc., will explore the subject of race and advertising in a lecture on multicultural marketing and the state of today's advertising industry. The event is from 8 to 9 p.m. on April 10 in the General Lounge, second floor, Illini Union, on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Morrison is a leader in the field of ethnic marketing. He has more than 25 years of marketing experience, including his work previously as an account director for Burrell Advertising Inc., where he was integral in developing McDonald's and Carnation's successful ethnic marketing programs.

While executive vice president and partner at D.C.A., a Detroit agency, Morrison's clients included Daimler/Chrysler, Kmart, General Mills, Ameritech, Carson Products, Western Union and Miller Brewing Co. He also served as vice president of multicultural marketing for Coca-Cola USA. Morrison's work has been recognized internationally with several advertising industry awards, including two Clios, two Addys and two U.S. Television Festival Awards.

UniWorld is a full-service advertising agency based in New York that was founded nearly 40 years ago. The agency specializes in multicultural marketing communications, with an emphasis on the African American and U.S. Latino/a markets.

Morrison's visit to Illinois is part of the Inside Advertising Speakers Program, which sends high-level, seasoned advertising and marketing executives to colleges and universities across the country to discuss the advertising process, how it fits into the country's economic and social structure and the issues surrounding advertising. In addition to the evening presentation, Morrison's intinerary will include classroom visits and informal discussions with faculty and staff.
