Submitting a piece
for publication in Interfacings will be deemed to constitute the granting
of a right to publish that article with such amendments as are necessary
to conform to the stylistic conventions of the journal.
The General Board
may publish, or arrange to have published, compendia in print or electronic
form of pieces previously published on the Interfacings website.
Where a submission
is reviewed and published in Interfacings and a version of that piece
is subsequently published elsewhere the author will ensure that reasonable
attribution is provided to Interfacings. The suggested wording will
be "Previously published in Interfacings" with a link to the
then current address of the Interfacings website.
All other rights
will be retained by the authors. Where an author, or authors, have chosen
to assign their rights to the public domain, or to use a specific copyright
license, this will be noted on the Interfacings website.

MISSION STATEMENT
- Interfacings is a project of the student body of the Institute of
Communications Research. It is a peer reviewed journal that seeks a
variety of approaches to the study of communication and culture, media
objects and practices, with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity and innovative
approaches. Interfacings provides a forum for scholars to shape the
future of cultural and media studies.
GENERAL BODY
- Overall control of Interfacings will be exercised by meetings of those
members of the student body of the ICR who choose to be involved in
Interfacings.
- Decisions will be taken where possible by consensus, and failing that
by such voting procedure as may be accepted by the student body from
time to time.
- The general body will meet at least once in each of the fall and winter
semester. It will be the responsibility of the editors to ensure meetings
are called.
- The general body will appoint at least two Journal Editors to attend
to the journal’s daily affairs for fixed terms of one year, and
may appoint one or more Journal Editors (who may or may not be the same
as the aforementioned editors) to handle submissions in languages other
than English that might be decided that the journal publish in, for
fixed terms of one year, and additional editors may be appointed for
projects such as special areas and special issues as they arise. No
editor will serve for more than two years.
- The general body will assign volunteers from amongst themselves to
such tasks as are necessary from time to time.
JOURNAL EDITORS
- The editors will formulate Calls for Submissions and present them
for approval to the general body.
- The editors will solicit reviewers to review submissions received,
turning first to members of the ICR community (students, faculty, alumni)
and previous reviewers where possible and appropriate.
- All submissions will be reviewed by at least two people, no more than
one to be a serving editor of Interfacings. A majority recommendation
is required to publish.
EDITORIAL BOARD
- The editorial board through its collective existence provides a warrant
as to the aims, operations and content of Interfacings.
- Membership may be extended, upon resolution of the General Body, for
renewable three year terms, to members of the communications and interdisciplinary
research community, to faculty members of the ICR, and to ICR students.
FACULTY ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
- There will be a faculty advisory committee, consisting of interested
members of the ICR faculty who are appointed by the General Body for
renewable two year terms.
- The committee will provide guidance and advice in the day to day operations
of the journal, help the journal be a self-sustaining institution that
renews itself, encouraging the involvement of incoming students, and
help ICR students learn about how a professional peer-reviewed academic
journal operates.
