ICR doctoral student Jillian Baez receives two research grants for inquiry into the Latina body

Second year doctoral student Jillian Baez will be spending the summer in Chicago researching the Latina body in popular communications and audience reception of Latinas. Baez recently received the CUNY-Caribbean Exchange Puerto Rican Studies Grant from the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, City University of New York to conduct this preliminary reserach. Baez is also the recipient of the Social Science Research Council's Predoctoral Research Grant which will also go towards funding her summer research.

Jillian has a B.A. in Media Studies and Puerto Rican/Latino Studies from Hunter College, City University of New York and has a forthcoming entry, "Latino News Networks," co-authored with Dr. Federico Subervi in the Encyclopedia of Latino Studies.
